Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Thoughtful answers to your most-asked questions about wedding music.

We know how many details go into planning your day – and music plays an important part. This page brings together the questions we’re most often asked by couples, covering music choices, logistics, and everything in between. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, we’re always happy to help personally.

Music Choices

Can we choose our own music?

Absolutely – music is one of the most personal ways to shape your day, and we’ll help you curate a playlist that reflects your style, story, and setting.
Whether you’re drawn to classical pieces, romantic pop, film themes, or Bollywood favourites, we’ll shape the soundtrack around you.
A personal music consultation is included in every booking, so you’ll feel confident and supported from the start.

Do you offer Bollywood or fusion music?

Yes – we’re proud to offer a growing Bollywood and fusion repertoire, and we’re happy to arrange additional songs on request. We’d love to help you blend your traditions beautifully into your celebration.

Can you help us choose our music?

Absolutely. Whether you’re selecting music for your ceremony, reception, or first dance, we’ll guide you through each part — you don’t need to have everything figured out in advance.  A personal music consultation is included with every booking, so you’ll feel confident and supported throughout the process.

Do you only perform classical music?

Not at all. Our repertoire spans classical, film scores, pop ballads, modern chart hits, jazz, soul, Bollywood, and more. There’s something for every moment and mood.

Ceremony & Setup

Do you perform outside?

Yes – we’re very happy to perform outdoors, weather permitting. To protect our instruments (and any equipment), we’ll need a shaded area in strong sun, and full cover in case of rain. If there’s no natural shade at your venue, a gazebo or parasol works perfectly. We’ll coordinate with you or your venue team in advance to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Do you perform in churches or for other religious ceremonies?

Yes – we’re experienced with traditional church weddings and religious ceremonies of various kinds.

For church services, I’m happy to liaise with your officiant and, with advance notice, can join the organist in accompanying hymns. (Please note that we don’t provide hymn music on our own – we complement an organist where appropriate.)

If your ceremony includes specific cultural or religious music, we’d be happy to discuss how we can honour those traditions thoughtfully.

How early do you arrive to set up?

We usually arrive 60–90 minutes before we’re due to start playing. While setup is quick, we always allow time to soundcheck any equipment, rehearse to get a feel for the venue’s acoustics, and liaise with your venue team, coordinator, or registrar to ensure everything runs smoothly – even if it’s a venue or music we know well.

Can you move between locations on the day?

Yes – we often perform in different parts of a wedding, such as the ceremony → drinks → meal, or move between separate venues like a church and reception space.
We’re experienced in relocating smoothly and discreetly, and we’ll confirm all transitions with you during your planning call.

What do you wear when performing?

We dress elegantly and appropriately for your occasion – typically in formal attire that suits the season and setting.
If you have a specific dress code (such as black tie), colour palette, or theme, we’re happy to coordinate.

Sound, Space & Lineups

Do you offer different line-up options?

Yes – you can choose between Solo Violin and our Violin & Cello Duo. We’re happy to help you decide what works best for your space, budget, and musical vision.

Request our brochure for a side-by-side comparison of each option, with recommendations for different styles and venues.

Do you perform acoustically or use backing tracks?

Both, depending on the lineup and atmosphere you’re looking for.

Solo Violin is most commonly performed with high-quality backing tracks for a rich, full sound – ideal for romantic pop, Bollywood, and modern covers. For quieter or more intimate moments, it can also be performed unaccompanied.

Violin & Cello Duo is usually performed fully acoustically, creating an elegant, natural sound. For upbeat evening sets, we can optionally add backing tracks for a party-ready twist.

We’re always happy to help you choose the best fit for your plans.

How much space do you require?

Not much at all! Solo Violin typically needs around 2m x 2m to play freely (including space for a speaker if using backing tracks).
The Violin & Cello Duo requires a similar amount of space.
We can comfortably fit into most ceremony or reception spaces, and we’re happy to liaise with your venue to confirm any details.

Timings & Availability

How long do you play for?

Set lengths vary depending on the package you choose — from ceremony-only coverage to full-day options. We’ll help you shape the music around your timeline, with breaks scheduled naturally around speeches, photographs, or room changes.

Our packages are a great starting point — but they’re not set in stone. If you need something more tailored, we’d be happy to create a bespoke option for your day.

What if my timings change after I’ve booked?

Small changes are completely normal, we’ll always do our best to accommodate and keep your day running smoothly.

If your plans shift slightly in the run-up, just let us know. For more significant changes (such as extra time or different set slots), please get in touch early, as we may have other commitments.

If things run over on the day itself and you’d like us to stay a little longer, we’ll always try to be flexible, subject to availability on the day.

When I enquire, is my date reserved?

Your date is secured once a booking agreement and deposit are received. Popular dates – especially weekends and summer months – can fill up quickly, so we always recommend enquiring early to avoid disappointment.

How do we book?

Once you’re ready to secure your date, I’ll send a booking form and deposit link. Your date is confirmed as soon as both are received.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book 12–24 months ahead – especially for peak dates like summer, weekends, school holidays, and bank holidays in May, June, and October.
We’re already taking bookings up to two years ahead – and even a few for three years in advance!
That said, we occasionally have last-minute availability, so don’t hesitate to get in touch, whether you’re planning ahead or a little more spontaneously.

Location & Services

Where are you based, and how far do you travel?

We’re based in Derbyshire and regularly perform across the Midlands and surrounding counties. For venues more than an hour away, a small travel fee may apply — we’ll include this in your personalised quote.

Send an enquiry to check availability and any travel costs for your date.

Do you only perform for weddings?

Weddings are our speciality, but we also perform for proposals, private events, corporate functions, and special celebrations.
If you’re planning something special, we’d love to hear about it.
